This project is part of an educational, scientific, and cultural outreach initiative focused on a key issue for our contemporary societies: the memory and representation of terrorism in Spain during the 20th and 21st centuries.
The exhibition on terrorism in Spain, organized in Valencia from February 9 to 13, 2026, by students from the LEA L3 (Valencia) and LLCER L1 (Grenoble) programs, was a great success with a diverse audience. Many external visitors, including members of the general public and representatives from various institutions, as well as students and university staff, attended the exhibition, which was set up by our students at the Rodolphe Pesce University Library.
This experience allowed the students to develop the skills required for the project, particularly in the areas of documentary research, team-based project management, cultural mediation, and scientific communication. At the end of the exhibition, they also submitted a collective final report reflecting on their involvement and experience within the project.
As a continuation of the project, in April 2026, the students from Valence who participated in the exhibition, along with a second-year class, also attended a lecture by Matteo Re, a terrorism specialist invited as part of the Erasmus+ program. This session helped strengthen the links between teaching and research by giving students direct access to international experts and contemporary topics. We also devoted significant time to a question-and-answer session, which allowed the LEA students to put their language skills into practice in a real-world, interactive setting.
Subsequently, the exhibition traveled to Grenoble, where it was presented on April 23, 2026. It was visited by undergraduate and graduate students in the LLCER program as well as several colleagues from Grenoble. This presentation was followed by a conference-workshop led by Raúl López Romo, in which the students participated, thereby extending the reflection on memory that had been ongoing throughout the project
This project helped enhance the UFR’s visibility through the organization of cultural and scientific activities open to various audiences, both within the university and beyond.
The exhibition and presentations by two experts to the students helped highlight the students’ work as well as the innovative pedagogical approaches we are developing within our programs.
This initiative is part of a coherent set of research projects and educational initiatives carried out each year in Valence and Grenoble on current themes (migration, memory, mourning, violence).
