In France, a diplôme universitaire (DU) is a university-specific diploma, unlike the licence, master's and doctorate, which are national diplomas, i.e. "state diplomas". Universities can organize this type of diploma as they see fit, in terms of access, length of preparation and assessment. A DU is by definition organized by a university.
