The main lines of research

The courses taught at UFR SoCLE are supported by dynamic research carried out in research laboratories.
Research at the UGA is organized into 6 clusters of laboratories and structures. The "Human and Social Sciences" (SHS) cluster is dedicated to the study of human beings in social, societal, cultural, intercultural and environmental contexts.
The actions are developed along strategic lines:
  • Cognition and language
  • Social and cultural spaces
  • Creation
  • Cross-cutting theme: "Science and technology in society

Laboratoires

Teaching is enriched by the research work carried out by UFR SoCLE's teaching and research staff. Students are frequently invited to take part in scientific events (congresses, symposia, study days, seminars, etc.) organized by research laboratories: 
  • ILCEA4: Institute of Languages and Cultures of Europe, America, Africa, Asia and Australia. The laboratory brings together the very best in research into foreign languages, literatures, cultures and civilizations, with more than 80 teacher-researchers, almost 20 PhDs and some 40 doctoral students.
  • LUHCIE : Laboratoire Universitaire Histoire Cultures Italie Europe. The laboratory brings together historians, art historians, musicologists and specialists in Italian language, literature and civilization.
  • LIDILEM : Laboratory of Linguistics and Didactics of Foreign and Mother Tongues. The work carried out is in the field of language sciences: linguistic descriptions, sociolinguistics, acquisition, corpus building and exploitation, language didactics, automatic language processing, study of new forms of interaction generated by digital uses.
  • Litt&Arts : Arts and practices of text, screen and stage. The scientific ambition is to multiply the cross-fertilizations between literary studies and the arts of stage and screen.

UGA Éditions

UGA Éditions is the multidisciplinary publishing house ofUniversité Grenoble Alpes. Its primary mission is to disseminate research results and knowledge to the widest possible audience.
Through their publications, the UFR's teaching and research staff contribute to enriching the collections of UGA Éditions.
