Produced by David Crémaux-Bouche (Department of Hispanic Studies, ILCEA4), Laurence Garino-Abel (Department of Hispanic Studies, ILCEA4), and Clara Sotoca, a master’s student (M1) in the LLCER program with a concentration in Hispanic Studies.
This exhibition commemorates the first indiscriminate attack carried out by ETA (the Basque separatist organization Euskadi ta Askatasuna / “Basque Country and Freedom” in English) against the Rolando cafeteria in Madrid on September 13, 1974.
The exhibition panels were generously donated by the Memorial Center for the Victims of Terrorism in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country, Spain). They formed the basis of the Center’s exhibition titled “ROLANDO 2:15 – 2:45. 50 Years Since ETA’s First Massacre.” This exhibition received the “IV Premio de divulgación en historia contemporánea – Manuel Pérez Ledesma” in May 2025.
