Request for a break

A gap year is a period during which a student enrolled in an initial course of higher education temporarily suspends his or her studies in order to gain personal or professional experience, either on his or her own or supervised by a host organization in France or abroad.
The caesura can take one of the following forms:
  • Training in a field other than the one in which the student is enrolled
  • Professional experience in France or abroad
  • A civic service commitment
  • A project to set up a business as a student-entrepreneur

2025–2026 Calendar

  • Undergraduate students: 
First-semester undergraduate students: September 2, 2026
Second semester bachelor's students: Wednesday, December 9, 2026
  • Master's students:
The dates correspond to the closing dates for admission periods (see MyMaster).

Applications must be submitted in accordance with the institution's schedules and procedures. Applications that do not comply with these requirements will not be accepted.
