Hamlet from the Inside" study day and exhibition

As part of its preparation for the Agrégation in English, Grenoble-Alpes University has organized a study day devoted to Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. The event will include papers by teacher-researchers, a round-table discussion with stage professionals and an art exhibition on the representation of Prince Hamlet on canvas.
To mark the publication of Mise(s) en je(u) de Hamlet by Presses universitaires de Nanterre, collection "Intercalaires", 2023, Université Grenoble-Alpes is organizing a study day dedicated to the agrégation competitive examination.

Entitled Hamlet, From the Inside, the day will include around eight papers by researchers from various French universities, as well as an art exhibition on the representation of Prince Hamlet in the mountain environment.

This project is rooted both in the pedagogical and formative concerns linked to preparation for the Agrégation competitive examination for the entire class coordinated by Nicholas Manning, director of the LISCA research team within ILCEA 4, and in those of the transversal axis Création Culturelle et Territoire(s). Indeed, questions of storytelling, voice acting, adapting a text for the stage and, more broadly, a text in the art of performance, will be at the heart of the project.

The day began with the opening of the exhibition, which was organized as part of the study day.
The following day, four lectures were given:
  • Hamlet, from the stage
  • Hamlet, from a different angle
  • Hamlet, from gender and genre perspectives
  • "Hamlet on stage
The whole was listened to with great attention by the students present and colleagues from the UFR. The study day provided relevant insights into the work on the agrégation syllabus, William Shakespeare's Hamlet, and strengthened ties with the speakers.
