"La Nuit des rois" in immersion

Educational innovation
As part of the research-translation of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night", part of the syllabus for the agrégation and Licence 3 LLCER exams, director Léonard Matton (Cie Emersion) has been involved in the course.
Léonard Matton explained the work involved in adapting a 17th-century English text into immersive, contemporary French theater. The presentations, combined with translation and dramaturgy workshops, shed light on certain aspects of the play as it relates to the stage. For the first public performance of the play next May, the participants will all be from the LLCER and UFR LLASIC courses.

The project has led to the publication of a translated version of the play, with commentary, in the "Paroles d'ailleurs" collection in 2026, as well as the involvement of students from various disciplines (English, performing arts, musicology, university choir) and teacher-researchers (including two doctoral students who initiated the project) in an international colloquium planned for December 2025, La Nuit des rois, with programming of the play.
