Hexe, moving story(s) of a dancer and an era: intermediality and transmission
Culture
"Hexe" ("witch" in German) traces the gesticulating, moving and eventful life of Berlin dancer Valeska Gert in Germany in the 1920s. An unclassifiable artist, disturbing, grimacing, non-conformist and unashamed, who mixed dance, theater, song and cabaret.
Valeska Gert's individual story intersects with the political and cultural history of Europe, and addresses the broader themes of feminism, the rise of anti-Semitism, exile and artistic and intellectual emancipation.
Come and discover this solo in which words and gestures shed light on an era and the life of a dancer whose story, always in motion, has been forgotten!
