Societies, Cultures and Modern Languages Department

Institute of European, American, African, Asian and Australian Languages and Cultures (ILCEA4) combines the research activities of 6 individual research centers consisting of specialists in language, literature, culture and foreign civilizations:

• CERHIUS (Hispanic studies)
• CESC (Slavic studies)
• CREO (Oriental studies)
• GREMUTS (Specialisedtranslation)

Research projects – on topics from the medieval to contemporary periods – have focused on literature, cultural and intermedial studies, civilizations and cultures, as well as on the issues arising from the interplay of literature and civilization studies, corpus creation, the link between humanities and digital technologies, languages, speech and cultural expertise, and specialised translation.
